The town of Arlington's official recycling guide is available online for the 2011-12 trash collection season.
Here are a few important reminders from the guide:
Curbside Collection: Trash and recycling should be placed on the curb no sooner than 6 p.m. the day before, no later than 7 a.m. on collection day.
Acceptable waste includes: All trash that can be placed into acceptable containers, excluding any material covered by Massachusetts DEP Waste Bans, and/or inherently dangerous, toxic, or hazardous wastes by State of Federal regulatory authorities. Latex paint should be dried out completely and placed with regular trash.
Unacceptable waste includes: Construction and demolition debris, auto parts, stumps (regardless of size), tree limbs, dirt, rock, concrete, biological waste, ammunitions, and explosives.
Leaves and yard waste: Leaves and yard waste must be in barrels or paper bags, not in plastic bags. Tree branches must be 3 feet or shorter and less than 1-inch thick. Branches may be bundled and must weigh less than 50 pounds.
The guide also includes information on pick-up dates and holidays, when collection is delayed by a day (Fourth of July is the next one coming up).
