Arlington’s Mary Lou Bigelow, a local Realtor at Bowes Real Estate Real Living and former Pan Am flight attendant, went to the Saturday, Oct. 13, performance of the musical “Catch Me If You Can” at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Rhode Island in her old, classic blue uniform.
Bigelow (pictured second from right) and 23 other members of the Boston Chapter of World Wings International, the philanthropic organization of former Pan Am flight attendants, met Frank Abagnale Jr. at the show. Abagnale’s life is depicted in the musical, book and 2002 movie, which starred Leonardo DiCaprio, as Abagnale, and Tom Hanks.
From age 16-21, Abagnale posed as a Pan Am pilot, attorney, college professor and pediatrician, in addition to cashing $2.5 million in fraudulent checks in the United Sates and 26 other countries. For more than 35 years now, he has worked with hundreds of financial institutions, corporations and government agencies around the world.
During a “Q&A” with the audience after the show, when asked which former role he preferred, Abagnale said, with a chuckle and huge smile, “Pan Am pilot – with all the girls.”
