Gillis Named HR Director at American Alarm

Arlington, Mass. — Sheryl Gillis, Human Resources Manager at American Alarm and Communications, had been promoted to the newly created position of Human Resources Director for the company. 

“Sheryl is a well-respected leader in our company who has played a key role in managing our growth,” said Louis Sampson, Chief Financial Officer of American Alarm. “Sheryl’s professionalism and work ethic set the standard for our team. I look forward to her continued success in this new leadership position.”

As HR Director, Gillis will oversee the development and implementation of enhanced recruitment, training, benefits and other human resources programs for the 200-plus employees of American Alarm. “I am grateful for the opportunity to take our human resources programs to the next level,” Gillis said. “We are fortunate to have a great team here, and we want to continue to serve them with a range of high-quality benefits and programs.”

When Gillis first joined American Alarm in 1999 the company had approximately 80 employees working from a single location. Today, through steady business development and strategic acquisitions, the company has grown to three locations of the flagship brand in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. The American Alarm family of companies also now includes Electronic Alarms, one of the leading security systems providers in Rhode Island, and Advanced Signal Corp. of Randolph, Mass., which specializes in the design and servicing of enterprise life-safety systems such as Notifier by Honeywell.

Gillis began her tenure at American Alarm as a supervisor in the accounting department. Over time, she took on more responsibilities for payroll and human resources management. Prior to American Alarm, she worked for 13 years at another Massachusetts based security company that specialized in video surveillance systems. Gillis lives in Lowell, Mass. with her husband John. Together, the couple has five children and three grandchildren.
