When Is the Arlington Whole Foods Opening?

See what the new store's team leader said Monday night.

The new Arlington Whole Foods, under construction at the old Johnnie’s Foodmaster at 808 Mass. Ave., will open before the end of September, the store’s team leader, Kate Demase, told the Board of Selectmen Monday night.

“We really want to be a community market and have that same kind of feeling that Johnnie’s had,” she said.

Demase said the exact open date isn’t public yet.

On Monday, the Board of Selectmen unanimously granted the grocery store a common victualler license, giving it the ability to serve food.

The store’s produce and seafood/butcher section will be near the entrance on the right; the prepared foods section will run along Mass. Ave., according to the store’s plans. There will also be 30 seats at five tables behind the cash registers along Bartlett Avenue.
