My first ...Cakes location was opened in Milton, which is where I live, and named after the nickname "Cakes" that my husband gave me 20 years ago. I had no knowledge that there was a business in the state with a similar name. There was no malice behind the choice at all and I'm sorry you think there was.

Dear Janet, I'm sorry that you were upset by your visit to Cakes. I did investigate your claims and thought that readers should also hear the other side of the story. First, you neglect to mention that you came in to pick up your cupcakes on Friday when your husband had ordered them for Saturday. Your order was custom, we specifically made cupcakes according to your wishes to accomodate a food allergy, so there was no way they could be picked up early. Secondly, you were GIVEN a dozen cupcakes to replace the ones you did not get - and did not pay for. So you purchased nothing, but got a free dozen cupcakes in exchange for your own mistake. Finally, when our manager unknowingly offered you a second dozen cupcakes to compensate for your trouble - you did not inform her that you had already received free product. When you were later denied this second free dozen after the mistake had been discovered, you were less than gracious. In summary, not only did we give you free product, we got slandered for our trouble. Deana Martin

So surprised to be reading some of these comments. I had some difficulty in the beginning but things have greatly improved. I have ordered a number of cakes and cupcakes for numerous occasions and they have all been ontime, beautifully decorated and absolutely delicious. It's certainly very tough to please everybody but I have been very happy with the improved service and now I need to order another chocolate cake for next Monday! BTW, Cakes is not just a bakery. They have great sandwiches, salads and the best egg sandwiches around that are super fresh! I especially loved the breads. Thanks Cakes! Keep up the great work.
