Barismo Moving Roasting Operations to Somerville

It appears Barismo will maintain a presence in East Arlington.

Barismo, the East Arlington coffee shop/roaster, has moved at least some of its roasting operations to Somerville.

According to a Barismo blog post, published Tuesday, the local coffee roaster is setting up shop next to Brooklyn Boulders Somerville, Artisans Asylum, Something Gud and Aeronaut Brewery on Tyler Street, just off Somerville Avenue.

The post reads in part:

“If you think about it for a bit, the list of cafes in the area using a MA based roaster is shorter than it should be given the quality roasting available. Somerville, however, has some of the better coffee shops in the area and a strong base of supportive coffee enthusiasts we want to introduce ourselves to. It is the one place that has come up repeatedly in customer conversations that's led us to believe the need for a local coffee roasting setup is there. While we acknowledge the lack of support many Somerville cafes have given local roasting businesses, we think that is a tiny obstacle in a community that is intensely supportive of #local #coffee.”

When asked about the fate of its East Arlington location on Twitter, Barismo tweeted Thursday, “We have plans for the Mass. Ave. space – more details in a few weeks.”

Barismo is at 171 Mass. Ave. in East Arlington. Barismo’s owners also operate Dwelltime, a coffee bar and bake shop, at 364 Broadway in Cambridge.

Barismo wrote to expect more updates/details on its new Somerville space soon.
