The Platters' Herb Reed Dead at 83

Herb Reed, the last living original member of the 1950s doo-wop group the Platters who recently lived in Arlington, died Monday, according to the Huffington Post. He was 83.

Reed, a Kansas City, Mo., native known for such Platters’ hits as “Only You” and “The Great Pretender,” was living in a Boston area hospice at the time of his death. Reed had been suffering from a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, according to HuffPo.
