Ben Rudnick & Friends CD Release Party Saturday Morning

Celebrate the band's 10th release, "Love is a Superpower," with a show at the Regent Theatre.

Today is Friday, Oct. 12. Here are five things you need to know:

1.) Ben Rudnick & Friends are having a CD release party for their 10th release, “Love is a Superpower,” at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning at the Regent Theatre. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for kids and seniors and $7 for Regent members. Complete details.

2.) Arlington Children’s Theatre’s “Ten Minute Play Festival” is this weekend at the Masonic Temple. The festival features eight short plays from seven different playwrights, including Shel Silverstein and Arlington’s Paula Chase. Shows are at 7 p.m. tonight, 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. 4.) From the town: Hurd Field Parking Lot Open: The Hurd Field Porous Pavement Project is substantially complete and the parking lot is now open. There are still a few minor items that remain to be completed, so portions of the lot may be blocked off temporarily to allow for the finishing touches to be completed including landscaping and the installation of a rain garden. The project is a collaboration between the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Town of Arlington to re-construct the Hurd Field parking lot and educate community members and municipal officials about the benefits of using porous pavement to improve water quality. 5.) There could be some showers this morning, but the sun is expected to peak out this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures should be in the mid 50s. On Saturday, expect sunny skies and a high near 54. There could also be some showers Sunday morning.
