Update from the Town of Arlington, 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3

Arlington Lifts Parking Ban at 1PM, Jan. 3

Starting at 1PM on January 3rd the Town-wide parking ban will be lifted.

Public Works will continue snow removal operations throughout today and tomorrow. Although the ban will be lifted cars parked in roadways during snow removal operations can impede removal progress. Residents are encouraged to park their vehicles off-street during clean up efforts so Public Works can complete the task more efficiently and with better results. Additionally vehicle passage on some roads may be limited. Residents are reminded if they have to park on the street to allow 10 feet for passing traffic as per Town bylaws. Failure to do so can result in ticketing and towing Article V Parking, Section 1 (e).

Storm Clean Up and Public Walkways

After a storm it is equally important for all residents and businesses to keep public walkways clear. The bylaws require residents and businesses to remove snow and ice from any sidewalks abutting their property following a storm. Residents should remove snow and ice from abutting paved sidewalks within eight hours between sunrise and sunset after a storm; businesses and residential property owners have three hours. Please cut a path to the street if you live on a corner. It is also prohibited to move snow into the roadway. Failure to comply with these bylaws can result in a fine of $25 to $50 per day.

Other ways to help include shoveling out fire hydrants by your property or that of a neighbor and clearing any catch basins near your property.

For additional Snow and Ice Information including Snow Removal Procedures, Policies, Tips and Snow & Ice Dispatch visit arlingtonma.gov/snow.

Trash Collection

JRM will resume trash collection Saturday Jan. 4th. Please be sure to secure containers and contents to prevent items from going into the street and to allow JRM crews to reasonably collect them. Have items at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on Jan. 4th. Any trash not collected by end of day Jan. 4th, will be collected on Monday, Jan. 6th. Please bring any containers not collected back from the curb and return them no later than 7 a.m. on Monday. Items under snow will not be collected.

The Town and JRM thank you in advance for your continued cooperation.
