Candlelight Vigil Planned for Mei Kum Li and Sons

Mei Kum Li and her twin sons, Colt and Cameron, were found dead Monday, along with Scott Jones, in their Newland Road home.

A candlelight vigil will be held for Mei Kum Li and her twin sons, Colt and Cameron, at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, on the Peirce Elementary School basketball court.

The vigil is on what would’ve been the boys’ first birthday.

Mei Kum Li, 43, and her sons were found dead Monday, along with Scott Jones, her husband and the boys’ father, in their first-floor condo at 45 Newland Road.

Authorities have not announced the cause and manner of the deaths, as they’re awaiting autopsy results. They have said that it was an isolated incident and that there is no threat to the public. They are also not looking for any additional suspects.

Sarah Schwartz, a 37-year-old mother who lives on Newland Road, is organizing the vigil, with help from Mei Kum Li’s brother, Ben Li, who is planning to attend.

“I was her neighbor, but I didn’t really know her,” Schwartz, a social worker, said Thursday. “We just want to show her friends and family support – we wish we could’ve offered more support before this happened.”

Ben Li has requested that Mei’s maiden name be used for the vigil.

The couple was reportedly going through a “nasty divorce.”

The Li family is still considering what organizations people should send donations to in Mei Kum Li’s memory. We’ll post that information as soon as it becomes available.

(UPDATE: The Li family has requested that donations in Mei Kum Li's memory be sent to www.reachma.org, a nonprofit that supports victims of abuse and works to prevent domestic violence -- donation page.)

People looking to assist with the vigil should contact Schwartz at srgoldfish@yahoo.com.

(UPDATE: A Facebook page has been set up for the vigil: https://www.facebook.com/MeiColtandCameron.)
