Arlington's Knobloch Named Department of Energy Secretary's Chief of Staff

Arlington’s Kevin Knobloch was recently named chief of staff to Department of Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz.

Knobloch most recently served as president of the Union of Concerned Scientists, an organization that works to solve Earth’s most pressing problems, such as global warming, through science. He started in his new role last week, according to a release from his former employer.

“The bar for leaving my post is very high,” he said in a statement, “and I would only do so for a call to public service of this order.

“The priorities of Secretary Moniz and the DOE, including reducing carbon emissions, expanding clean renewable energy and reducing the threat of nuclear weapons and fissile material, have been passions throughout my career. This is a strong opportunity to improve the health and safety of all Americans.”

Knobloch is the co-founder and former president of the Arlington Land Trust.
