Arlington Native, David Copperfield’s Former Magician’s Assistant Battling Lung Disease

Many famous magicians have rallied around her.

Joanie Spina, an Arlington native who was David Copperfield’s head magician’s assistant for a decade, is battling an incurable lung disease in Las Vegas, according to a recent article in the Las Vegas Sun.

Spina also has directed and choreographed many shows in Vegas, including Copperfield’s.

The article highlights Spina’s “remarkable generosity” and the support Spina has received from Copperfield and another famous magicians, such as Lance Burton.
