Airplane Noise Overhead? A 'How To' on Filing a Complaint

Don't just tell your neighbors.

Are you experiencing more airplane noise since Logan Airport changed its departing routes?

You’re not alone.

Residents in Arlington, Waltham, Winchester, Belmont and Watertown have been impacted the most by the new routes, which were altered because of a new satellite-guided system.

On Friday, the City of Medford posted a “How To” on filing a complaint.

Here are some options:

  • You can complete Massport’s online form (first-time users must register prior to submitting).
  • You can call Massport’s Noise Complaint Line, 617-561-3333. The line is staffed by Massport’s Noise Abatement Office from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on business days (on off hours, you can leave a message).
  • Check Massport’s Noise FAQs for more information.

After you file a complaint, you should hear back within 3-4 weeks.

Massport has a near live flight tracker called Flight Monitor. This tool can help residents identify flights that are impacting their neighborhood.
