Arlington Education Foundation Sponsors Trivia Bee March 23

What former Arlington High School student-turned-comedian sold out at Madison Square Garden?  Over 20 teams representing schools and community groups will answer trivia questions like this at Arlington Education Foundation’s annual Trivia Bee to be held on Sunday March 23rd at 3pm at the Arlington Town Hall.

For over 10 years, participants have donned creative hats (and sometimes costumes) while competing for good fun and the chance to be named the Trivia Bee Champions.  The Grand Prize is books donated to the Arlington school library of the winning team’s choice.  The “AFC Toddler Wranglers,” a team of Arlington Family Connection volunteers, were crowned the 2013 Trivia Champs.

A panel of judges will quiz contestants on a variety of topics such as Science, Literature, Sports, History & Current Events, Arts & Entertainment and Arlington trivia.  To register a team, email info@arlingtoneducationfoundationma.org.

Fun for the entire family, the event is free, and includes trivia, design challenges, activities and prizes for kids too!  “The Trivia Bee really is one of Arlington’s premier community events.  It  brings a wide array of community groups together - parents, teachers, elected officials, and neighborhood friends - and everyone always has a blast,” said Jane Biondi, the event’s organizer.

Proceeds from this community event support the work of the Arlington Education Foundation, which provides grants to educators for creative new projects and system-wide initiatives in the Arlington Public Schools.  Community donations have enabled AEF to award $100,000 in grants to the Arlington Public Schools for each of the past three years.  This year’s sponsors include Watertown Savings Bank, Brookline Bank, Belmont Orthodontics & Belmont Pediatric Dentistry, East Cambridge Savings Bank, Leone & Leone Attorneys at Law, Sweeney & O’Connell Real Estate, Cambridge Savings Bank, Arlington Children’s Center, Swifty Printing, and The Balich Corp.
