Arlington Resident Honored by UMass Amherst for Commitment to Public Service
Arlington resident Patricia Reid Ponte was honored by the University of Massachusetts Amherst for her commitment to public service at the second annual A Salute to Service awards reception on Wednesday, November 20. Reid Ponte, who received a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from UMass Amherst, is Senior Vice President for Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Executive Director of Oncology Nursing and Clinical Services at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Throughout its 150 year history as the Commonwealth’s flagship campus, UMass Amherst has embraced and emphasized public service, recognizing its critical role in the social and economic development of the state, nation and world. Additional 2013 Salute to Service Honorees included former One Fund Boston Administrator Kenneth Feinberg, General Electric Global Research Center Principal Engineer and Coolidge Fellow Marshall Jones and three UMass Amherst students.
