Crowds filled Massachusetts Avenue on Saturday, joining Arlingtonians and friends of the town to celebrate Arlington Town Day. There were activities for the kids, food vendors, local businesses and nonprofits showcasing their activities. Bands filled the air with music. Hundreds of children and adults were at Spy Pond Field on Friday, enjoying the kickoff of Arlington's annual Town Day. There were train rides, a dog show, fair food and pony rides. Here’s what’s happening at Arlington’s annual Town Day this Satuday: The Walter V. Moynihan Town Day Run begins at 8:30 a.m, open to all ages. Proceeds from the run will benefit Arlington’s youth activities. The route is 2.7 miles long, starting and ending in front of Arlington High School. Registration fee is $15 and can be paid starting at 7:30 a.m. The run will be held rain or shine. At 9:50 a.m., the Menotomy Minutemen will march from the Jason Russell House down Massachusetts Avenue to hold a flag-raising ceremony. Arlington’s community event of the year is upon us. Town Night and Day are on Friday and Saturday, two festive days of entertainment, art, culture and plenty of neighborhood fun. Town Night is at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, at Spy Pond Field. The event includes fireworks, rides for the kids and a dog show.
