We all have values.  

We also all have goals.

Our culture tells us that if we work hard and do everything we can, we will reach our goals.  

This often is interpreted as making a list of phone calls, letters, events, life milestones and markers and working really hard to hit them all.

But what happens when things don't work out? Because the older you get -- and if you're lucky, you will get older -- you find that there is the path you thought your life was going to take and then there's the path your life has taken. If you're lucky there is some crossover as well as lucky serendipity, but there is also GUARANTEED to be divergent paths.

What about what Edith wrote at the top? Defining your values and having ALL your actions based on what you are doing when you are expressing your values -- which is the core of the best of who you are -- leads to happiness.
