Indeed I miss Dough-C-Dough more than any other business gone. (although Pewter Pot gets a close honorary mention). But the donuts.. Still to this day haven't found donuts that taste as good!

Chummy's...on Summer St. across from ball field

I remember Chummy's, Sals of Italy beauty salon and Vic's barber shop in that building. There was also a small drug store on the end but I can't remember the name!

I miss Brigham's in the center; nothing better than ice cream after school. The place would be packed with kids.

I miss Santoro's .... I miss Dairy Queen , Kentucky Fried Chicken , Buttricks ( not Brighams ) ... Oh Yeah Ka Loc the best Chinese food ever ...

I miss Monument Market in the center. They custom cut and sold the best meat and chicken I've ever had, and although it was small, I could always find what I needed in a quick stop. They took orders overs the phone and packed and delivered them to folks in town. Thirty years ago. Seems like a lifetime.

I miss Cherry & Webb, for clothes, etc., shopping. All we have now are "boutique-type" stores, which are more like gift shops. I miss Danielson's in East Arlington..another "quick stop", where you could run in and grab a pound of hamburger, or any other kind of meat, without having to go to the supermarket. I miss Foodmaster, of course. It's hard to believe we have been left with just one actual supermarket for now. I also miss Peter's Kitchen in East Arlington, and of course Friendly's (great place to go when the kids were young), or if you just wanted a great sandwich and fries, etc., or an ice cream.

Koffard's Restaurant (was beside the Arlington National Bank, Mass Ave -- is that little street "Railroad Ave"?) They had the BEST "sticky" rolls (Pecan rolls)...

And the Old Mill Restaurant, now Fresh Pond Seafood, -- not to be confused with the Old Mill out there in Westminster.

The Mystic Star Dairy Bar had the best! soft serve. Originally where the condo tower is now at Mystic Street and Mystic Valley Parkway.... Later it moved across the street where Dunkin is now (Summer Street at Mystic).

Farrington's Records was the place to go for the latest tunes .... was next to Dewey's Variety ... now Not Your Average Joe's.

Luigi's! Right in the center! The best meatball and chicken cutlet subs! The smell when you walked in the door instantly made you hungry and selecting just one thing proved difficult! Haven't found a sub that compares, but thank God Bob's in Medford is still going strong. I loved Monument Market too. The owner used to live across the street from me. His brother owned Warren St Market too. And Beacon Spa...getting our penny candy! Decatur Market! LOVED Pat! (Just saw him a couple of weeks ago) And last but not least C&C Farms on Summer St(now Scutra) Ahh the good Ol' days.

Vin, how long ago were the Dairy Queen and KFC on Broadway in Arlington? Seems to ring a bell. Joe, the Friendly's was where the East Cambridge Savings Bank is now located next to Dunkies where KFC used to be. I was one of the lucky ones who had to get a hepatitis vaccine after possibly being exposed at the old Friendly's on Broadway. I sort of miss Krazy Karry's in the Center.

Does anyone remember....it would have been many many years ago, a place on Broadway somewhere around where Dunkins is now...a restaurant that I think was a two story white house, and I think it was called... Arlington House of Spaghetti ??? or something like that. I remember my parents bringing all there for dinner quite often. I know this wasn't in Arlington, but nearby at Four Corners in Woburn...a restaurant called the White Spot. One day there was a fire there, and the name was changed to the Red Spot...that is a true story.

I agree Joan. I miss Johnnies already also. I've had two instances where I went to the Stop & Shop, had a problem finding a parking space, and left without going shopping. I will never understand why we were left with just one supermarket (overpriced one at that...for the most part). I don't know if anyone else has noticed that some of the shelves are not as stocked as usual.
