East Arlington's Mike Prior was at home with his 5-year-old daughter Meghan, who was playing dress-up, when the microburst rolled through the neighborhood Wednesday evening, knocking a tree over on his home at 63 Marathon St. (photos attached).
Michelle Pirog, an Arlington native, was in her apartment at 276 Massachusetts Ave. when the storm hit.
"Been to Niagra Falls? Imagine looking at your window into them," she said later Wednesday night. "You see absolutely nothing but a real white wall."
Pirog's 2011 Nissan Versa, which she had just bought and had less than 3,000 miles on it, was buried under a tree, along with four or five other vehicles, in the parking lot behind 276 Massachusetts Ave. (photo attached).

i was taking a nap and woke up to the noise and couldn't see anything outside the window but water. Then realized my windows were open in my office and the room was flooded with an inch of water.

I was walking home from Walgreens. I was laughing and giggling at the rain and the wind soaking me, happy to have a break from the heat. Just as I arrived back in my apartment I looked out my window and saw that a bunch of trees and a light pole had come down. I was lucky to have missed it.

I was driving home from work, on Mass Ave, approaching the stop light to turn left onto Lake St. Suddenly, winds picked up, I looked to my left and saw the wind pushing a wave of water up from Chandler St., when rains hit so hard and heavy, there was nothing I could see but walls of white surrounding my car. I couldn't even see to pull the car over to the side of the road and just hoped everyone else on the road was stopped, like me. The car rocked back and forth and I worried it would be flipped over by the wind. Then, it was over, it cleared, I was able to turn onto Lake only to find it 1 lane due to tree limbs/wires and had to jockey with traffic coming up Lake to Mass Ave. After driving through a huge puddle at the top of my street, I made it home.......very fortunate and very scary!

I was eating fried clams scallops And a lobster roll and French Fries on my ocean front home ... See I was away from Arlington collecting my mind and soul. Althought I was a little upset seeing the damage. But nobody got hurt and that's all that matters ...

I was working in my home office. It's hard to distract me while I'm at work, but suddenly the American Plane tree outside was pressed against the house, waving wildly. I sprang up and started closing windows. Up on the third floor, the leafy crown of the tree was again smushed against the windows, waving back and forth. It was like being in a car wash with green leaf brushes. It was scary. Back downstairs, I stepped out on the back porch where my laundry on the line was wipping furiously in the wind, soaking wet. The rain looked white in hard-driving gusts. Half a maple snapped off in a neighbors yard. I thought maybe it was a tornado, only without the roar or the long preamble of greenish stillness. I've never been in a microburst before. I would be curious how many mph that wind was blowing.
