Week Ahead: Martial Arts, Stories and a Farmers Market

Here are a few events happening around town this week:
Martial Arts Monday at Robbins: Laido, the Way of the Sword, is the art of drawing and using the traditional Japanese sword. Iaido was practiced by the ancient Samurai for centuries as a way to defend against attacks on the battlefield. Learn from the master at Boston Eishin Ryu Iaido. All ages are welcome, but priority is given to 10- to 18-year-olds. Free tickets are given 30 minutes before the program starts, so get to Robbins Library early for this 7:30 p.m. event.
Sing-along at Fox Library: On Tuesday, 10-10:30 a.m., drop by the Fox Branch Library for music and fun for infants and preschoolers. Pick up ticket starting at 9:30 a.m. at the library.
Arlington Farmers Market: The Arlington Farmers Market is held every Wednesday, 2-6:30 p.m.,at the Russell Common parking lot in Arlington Center. Check out some of the vendors on Arlington Patch's new feature, Farmers Market Spotlight.
Donations for American troops: Every day this week, Barrett & Company Real Estate is collecting donations of peanut butter, jelly and Marshmallow Fluff for Operation American Soldier. Small plastic jars can be dropped off at the Barrett & Company offices in Concord, Lincoln and Carlisle Centers.
