'Cooper's Tavern,' Leaf-Blower Articles at Tonight's Selectmen's Meeting

The board meets at 7:15 p.m. in Town Hall.

Today is Monday, Sept. 24. Here are five things you need to know:

1. The request to change the recently closed Gemma Ristorante into “Cooper’s Tavern” (“Gemma Site Could Become ‘Cooper’s Tavern’”) will be heard tonight by the Board of Selectmen. The meeting starts at 7:15 p.m. in the Selectmen’s Chambers on the second floor of Town Hall. See the meeting’s full agenda, which also includes hearings for the leaf-blower articles at the upcoming Special Town Meeting.

2. A free teen writer’s workshop at the Robbins Library begins today, from 6-7:30 p.m. Complete details.

3. Catch up on everything you missed last week with our “Week in Review,” including a rescue at Spy Pond.

4. Also, be sure to check out our new “News Nearby” feature, which will get you all caught up on Arlington’s neighboring communities. Our first edition featured Romney sightings in Belmont, a hero laid to rest in Winchester, and an indecent assault on Tufts campus.

5. Fall arrived on Saturday, and now Fall-like days are here, as today should be sunny with a high of only 66 and an overnight low of 46, according to the National Weather Service.
