Should terminally ill patients be allowed to be given lethal drugs at their request?
That's one question Massachusetts voters will be expected to consider when they hit the voting booth in November, as the initiative, called "Death with Dignity," received enough signatures to be placed on the ballot.
The act would require that patients are mentally capable of making this decision and orally communicating it to a doctor on two occasions 15 days apart. Participation by a doctor or health care facility would be voluntary.
If passed, Massachusetts would join Oregon, Washington and Montana as the only states that allow assisted suicide.
Should Massachusetts allow assisted suicide? Let us know by posting a comment below.

Definitely yes. I don't want to have a long pointlessly expensive decline.

Would 'a long pointlessly expensive decline' be more prevalent among Democrats or Republicans... provided you could find enough of the latter to run a study in the Commonwealth?

Absolutely! No human being should have to live through a painful, fatal illness; they should have a choice in the matter. I wouldn't subject my pets to it. It's the religious dogma that prevent folks, particularly older folks from voting for it IMHO.

We have that right as pet owners to make that decision for our cherished pets why can't we make that decision for ourselves, Having a parent that passed away from 2 different types of cancer one being bone wish that this could have been an option.

YES. And keep YOUR religion out of MY life/death, Catholics, etc. IF there's a God who will judge me, that's his/her job, not yours, so butt out.

As long as they aren't using a gas powered leaf blower while taking their own life, it should be allowed. ;-)

Donald you are cracking me up when is the snow blower ban going into effect now thats when I really take offense. I realize how hard it is for most of the people to hear noise for a few minutes. It is extremely hard to listen to a walkman or talk on cell with those darn pesky noises and people earning a living around you !!!!!

The snow blower ban will be the next item on the agenda after the air nailer ban. There are plans however to slot it ahead of the hybrid only parking lot in front of Starbucks on Mass Ave.
