Real Estate Sales, Prices Down in Arlington

Sales and prices for are down in Arlington.

According to real estate data provider Warren Group, there were 24 condo sales in May, compared to 27 in the same month last year. Year-to-date, 63 condos were sold this year, compared to 80 in the same time period last year.

Single-family home sales were about a third lower than in May 2010. There were 36 sales in May, compared to 23 last year. Year-to-date, sales fell from 106 to 72.

Also in May, the median sale price for single-family homes was $492,500, compared to $498,675 in 2010. For condos, the price drop is more significant—dropping 11.5 percent, from $373,000 during May 2010 to $330,000.

According to the Warren Group, May home sales in Massachusetts dropped more than 25 percent from the prior year. Median prices of single-family homes increased year-over-year in May.
