On Monday, we asked you: Where do drivers speed in Arlington?

And although your answers varied, four streets definitely stood out: Gray Street, Highland Avenue, Appleton Street (from Park Avenue to Paul Revere Road) and Jason Street.

More people said Gray Street than any other, while Highland Avenue was a close second.

Gray Street

“Gray Street, it’s shocking how fast people go sometimes,” Christie Young.

“Gray Street, especially coming down from Churchill Avenue to the Jason Street intersection. Posted 20 mph speed limit, totally ignored. Brakes screeching constantly, many don’t even bother to slow down. Also going up Gray Street from the Jason Street intersection, most gut it and are airborne by the time they hit the hill. Far too many accidents at Gray and Jason Street and at Gray and Bartlett Avenue,” Diane Ingvarsson.

Highland Avenue

“People speed down [Highland Avenue] from Gray Street, and I can’t tell you how many accidents I have witnessed at the corner of Highland and Wildwood Avenue. There are stop signs there, but people frequently ignore them. At one time, we requested flashing red stop lights, but the town said ‘NO’ and probably put that money toward a dog and cat grazing park or some other such thing,” Drew.

Appleton Street, from Park Avenue to Paul Revere Road

“There should be lights or a stop sign (at Appleton Street and Paul Revere Road) to slow the traffic,” Malcolm Hamilton.

Jason Street

"I like to drive the speed limit (posted at 20 mph) on Jason Street and irritate the speeders behind me who think they have a shortcut to Route 2. Oh, and I come to a full and complete stop (3-second rule!) at the four-way intersection," K M.
