Those of us who voted, voted by a huge majority against it. So the real question is why is this still law?

I know about the requirement for a certain number of total votes. Its a rhetorical question.

A more serious question is why it didn't end up on the ballots when we had the general election in Nov. There would have been more than a large enough turnout to guarantee that the will of the citizens of Arlington was properly measured.

I may not agree with the outcome of the vote however the "town" did vote to ban leaf blowers.

The town did not vote to ban leaf blowers. The selectman did. The town voted down the ban. But because there was not a large enough turnout the massive vote against the ban did not count.

Donald , you are 100 % correct .... The town did not vote for this ban . A group of elitist's voted for this ban and knew how to play the town meeting system . This town wants to be a little city , so let be a city .. Time to rid TOWN MEETING ,SELECTMEN, A TOWN MANAGER ,who is controlled by selectmen .. This group of elitists know how to play these selectmen and it has to stop .. It is time for us to take back our town ...TOWN MEETING IS ANTIQUATED ... MERRY CHRISTMAS

Leaf blowers should be required at Town Meeting. They would come in handy to drown out the voices of unhinged selectmen and, with slight modification, could be used to blow smoke as required.
