Before their prom at the Danversport Yacht Club Friday night, Arlington High seniors posed for pictures and then strutted their stuff at the high school’s first Senior Promenade, which took place on the school’s front lawn.
Here’s what the high school’s interim principal, Mary Villano, had to say about the inaugural event and the prom in her Memorial Day newsletter.
On the Senior Promenade:
I would like to thank those parents who assisted in getting the Senior Promenade off the ground by providing snacks and beverages and helping with setup and clean up.
Although the promenade has a way to go to achieve the vision I have for the event, it was a good first step. The atmosphere was upbeat with lots of students and their families on the front lawn taking pictures. I think many parents enjoyed seeing so many of the seniors dressed up in tuxes and gowns.
For some reason, some students were reluctant to take part in the promenade but many others did. I am hoping that next year’s Junior Parents can take this on and make it an even better event.
Thank you to everyone who participated.
On the Senior Prom:
The Senior Prom, at the Danversport Yacht Club was a memorable evening for students and staff.
How beautiful and handsome our seniors looked! But the best part of the night (for me anyway) was when at least twenty students got up and did the West Coast Swing to a couple of songs. It was incredible to watch; they looked like pros. I tried to video them so you could see it but the room was too dark.
Thanks to Dr. Geller, our AP Calculus teacher, for providing dance lessons to our seniors. We have made a lot of progress in bringing more sophistication to our dance floor!
Nice job, Seniors!
