Today is Monday, Oct. 22. Here are five things you need to know:

1.) From the town: Paving on Academy Street This Morning, Mass. Ave. to Maple Street: The town of Arlington, through its contractor D&R Paving, will continue repaving Academy Street, from Mass. Ave. to Maple Street, this morning, weather permitting. Paving the top course is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m., and there will be no access to Academy Street from Mass. Ave. If the schedule is kept, work should be completed and access available later in the morning, 9 a.m. Please plan your travel plans around Town Hall accordingly. Thanks in advance for your patience during these roadway improvements.

2.) From the town: Bike Path Closed from Swan Place to Linwood Street Tuesday: Weather permitting the section of the Minuteman bike path, from Swan Place to Linwood Street, will be closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, and possibly, Wednesday, Oct. 24, to allow for safe removal of trees damaged in the microburst this past summer. All modes of travel (pedestrian, bicycles) will not be allowed on this section. Please observe “Do Not Enter” signs and seek alternate routes around this work area.

3.) The Arlington High boys’ soccer team will host Reading at 3:45 p.m. this afternoon; the girls’ soccer team will be on the road at Reading at the same time. The Spy Ponders field hockey team will also play at Reading, at 7 p.m. The Arlington Catholic boys’ soccer team will host St. Mary’s of Lynn at 3:30 p.m.
