TONIGHT: Officials Hold Informational Meeting on Accessory Apartments

A zoning change to allow accessory apartments is likely to come up in this year's Town Meeting.

The on Monday will hold an informational meeting on a proposal to change town bylaws to allows accessory apartments.

According to the survey, 83 percent of the 119 Town Meeting members who participated said they would allow accessory apartments but one of the units should be owner occupied.

Accessory units are defined as smaller second apartments within single-family homes, usually for older family members or nannies.

"The purpose of the meeting is to discuss with the public the intent and content of the amendment, and take feedback on the proposal," officials said in a statement.

The zoning bylaw amendment to allow accessory apartments is likely to be on the Town Meeting Warrant this spring.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13, at the selectmen's hearing room in .
