SNOW EMERGENCY AND TOWN SERVICES INFORMATION: 

• The town has declared a snow emergency on Friday from 1 a.m.-4 p.m. 
•  Arlington has declared parking ban effective Friday, January 21 from 1 a.m. – 4 p.m. This ban includes all streets except Mass Ave. It is crucial to keep cars off the streets during this time to allow the town to clear the roads.  Any vehicles parked on the streets during those hours will be subject to ticketing and towing.
• As of Thursday evening, trash collection is still planned as scheduled. 
• Don't forget town bylaws regarding snow removal. Residents should remove snow and ice from abutting paved sidewalks within eight hours between sunrise and sunset after a storm, businesses and residential property owners have three hours. Don’t forget to cut a path to the street if you live on a corner. It is also prohibited to move snow into the roadway. Failure to comply with these bylaws can result in a fine of $25 to $50 per day.

CLOSURES, CANCELLATIONS AND DELAYS: 

• All public schools will be closed on Friday. 
• Town Hall offices will be closed, except for the Board of Selectmen's Office, which will close at noon. For additional updates see, arlington.ma.gov. 
•  Robbins Library will be open starting at noon. For additional information see robbinslibrary.org.
• The Recreation Department will also open today at noon. All public skating and afternoon programs are on as scheduled.

FORECAST: 

Friday, 4 p.m.: Snow has subsided and town has lifted the snow emergency. 

Friday, 10 a.m.: Snow will fall at a rate of one to two inches per hour, diminishing into light snowfall through the afternoon.  Total storm accumulation totals three to six inches.

Thursday 8 p.m.: The National Weather Service is reporting that Arlington could receive one to two inches of snow tonight and another one to three inches on Friday. NWS has issued a winter weather advisory from midnight on Thursday to noon on Friday. 

Snow will fall heaviest during the early morning hours, most likely causing delays during the rush hour commute. Temperatures will teeter just around 30 degrees on Friday morning, so drivers are advised to stay off the roads as much as possible to avoid accidents.
