Memorial Day Events
Parade Starts Early Monday Morning
Memorial Day is the unofficial start to Summer (Summer actually begins June 21) and is a day of barbecues, relaxation and family, but it is also a day to remember all those who have fallen.
On Monday, May 31 at 9:30 a.m., The annual Memorial Day Parade will begin at Walgreens parking lot at Massachusetts Avenue in East Arlington, across from Adams and Allen Streets.
This year, the parade will include the Menotomy Minutemen, The American Legion Post 39, The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 49, The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1775, The Stanley Benner Detachment of The Marine Corps League, The Arlington Firefighters Honor Guard, and The Arlington Police Department Honor Guard along with veterans and auxiliaries as well as town and state elected officials.
The parade continues to Monument Park in Arlington Center where services will be held and wreaths will be placed.
Marchers then continue along Massachusetts Avenue to Mt. Pleasant Cemetery for services commemorating all the deceased veterans of all wars.
