Irene's Aftermath: Clean Up Continues in Arlington
Though downgraded to tropical storm, what was once Hurricane Irene still managed to cause plenty of trouble around town.
Arlington Public Works had a busy day on Sunday, as crews combed the streets of the town dealing with downed tree limbs and broken wires as a result of tropical storm Irene.
Public Works Diretor Michael Rademacher said there were “a lot” of trees down, but could not yet quantify how many.
“We’re dealing with it as expeditiously as we can,” he said.
Reports from residents were pouring in Sunday afternoon. Carol Beggy said there were a couple of tree limbs down and she lost power for bit in Arlington Heights.
“Nothing major so far, but it’s howling,” Beggy wrote on Twitter.
Sgt. Sean Kiernan, of the Arlington Police Department, said there had been no major incidents beyond tree down around town.
“No injuries, no major property damage,” he added.
Police and Public Works officials are expected to provide more details about the aftermath of tropical storm Irene on Monday. Check back on Arlington Patch for details as they become available.
