Free Parking in Arlington on Saturdays in December

The Board of Selectmen approved the move Monday at the request of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce.

Today is Wednesday, Nov. 28. Here are five things you need to know:

1.) There will be free parking in Arlington on the Saturdays before Christmas in December (Dec. 1, 8, 15 and 22). This covers all metered spots in the two municipal parking lots in Arlington Center (the Russell Commons lot on Mystic Street and the Rail Road lot on Lamson Way).

2.) The 2013 Annual Town Meeting Warrant opens at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, and closes at noon Friday, Jan. 25. During this time warrant articles can be submitted to the Board of Selectmen’s Office on the second floor of Town Hall. The warrant article submission packet, which includes instructions, is available at the Board of Selectmen’s Office and also online at arlingtonma.gov/townmeeting. Town Meeting starts Monday, April 22.

3.) The 2013 Annual Town Elections are on Saturday, April 6. If you’re interested in holding public office, here’s what’s available.

4.) Enter Patch’s “Deck the House” contest, and if your house wins, Patch will donate $100,000 to the Arlington Public Schools.

5.) There is a chance of snow before noon and then a slight chance of rain from noon to 1 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures are expected to reach 40 degrees during the day and fall to 25 at night.
