Good morning, Arlington! Here are five things you need to know today:
1. Weather: Expect a sunny Monday with mostly clear skies overnight. High temperatures could reach about 66 degrees during the day, with an overnight low of 49 degrees.
2. Town Day: Were you at Town Day this weekend? Patch was there and captured Town Night and Town Day with photo galleries.
3. Sports schedule: Every morning, we run a list of all the sporting events in Arlington. Check it out and stay on top of what's going on with our hometown teams. Today, the boys and girls of Arlington High and Arlington Catholic are playing golf, soccer and field hockey.
4. For the troops: Barrett & Company Real Estate is collecting donations of peanut butter, jelly and Marshmallow Fluff for Operation American Soldier. Small plastic jars can be dropped off at the Barrett & Company offices in Concord, Lincoln and Carlisle Centers.
5. This Day in History: From History.com, "On this day in 1957, the United States detonates a 1.7 kiloton nuclear weapon in an underground tunnel at the Nevada Test Site, a 1,375 square mile research center located 65 miles north of Las Vegas. The test, known as Rainier, was the first fully contained underground detonation and produced no radioactive fallout."
