Five Things You Need to Know Today, Dec. 23

Holiday trash collection, town offices closed and a few more things to know this Friday.

 

1. Weather: Expect some rain and a bit of snow this morning, remaining overcast for the afternoon. High temperatures could reach 42, with an overnight low of 24.

2. Trash collection: There will be no trash or recycling collections on Monday, Dec. 26. There will be a one-day delay for the remainder of the week. For missed pick-ups, please call Waste Management directly at 1-800-545-4560.

3. Offices Closed: Town Hall administrative offices will be closed on Monday Dec. 26. Robbins and Fox libraries will be closed on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 23-24. Arlington Recreation will be closed on Monday, Dec. 26. Veterans' Memorial Rink will be open with limited holiday hours on Monday, Dec. 26.

4. Yoga at Senior Center: There is a twice weekly drop-in yoga classes at the Arlington Senior Center. Meets every Tuesday and Friday. Bring a mat. Membership not required. Cost is $5. 

5. This day in history: On this day in 1888, Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh, suffering from severe depression, cuts off the lower part of his left ear with a razor while staying in Arles, France.
