Don't Let the Weather Fool You: Barbecue Season is Upon Arlington

Even before you figure out where you are cooking and what kind of flame you will use, you need to know your cuts of meat.

The weather may be misleading, but it really is barbecue season. Whether you are all about charcoal or love the convenience of gas, can't live without your smoker or have a crush on your shiny grill, or go the takeout route and just need to choose between Blue Ribbon BBQ's sweet, hot or gold sauce great barbecue can be at your fingertips. If you are going to grill at home, there is no time like the present to do some barbecue homework.

Even before you figure out where you are cooking and what kind of flame you will use, you need to know your cuts of meat and then there is the rub. For a little lesson in meat and cuts, head over to The Meat House. The staff at The Meat House knows their cuts well and have them all available in-house. Try a few different cuts and have a little taste test to find out which one is your favorite. The more you know about each cut of meat, the better prepared you will be to cook it and season it properly.

The secret to so much great barbecue is in the rub. Penzeys Spice is a great place to first restock your spices and then mix up your perfect rub recipe. Penzeys has an Indian Spice Rub they recommend for grilled chicken. Then there's the Nicely Spiced Ribs with two types of paprika, sage, allspice and cloves for an earthy, spicy and sweet rub.

Now all you have to do is chill some beer, choose the rub for you, invite some friends over and start grilling!
