Davis Square Boutique Opening Arlington Center Location
The owners of Davis Squared are opening Arlington Centered at the recently vacated Main Event Tuxedo spot on Massachusetts Avenue.
Davis Squared, a “fun and funky” gift shop in, well, Somerville’s Davis Square, announced Thursday afternoon that it’s opening a store in Arlington Center at the end of the month.
The boutique is moving into the recently vacated Main Event Tuxedo spot at 487 Massachusetts Ave. (which is to the left of Punjab). The new location will fittingly be called Arlington Centered or “aC” for short, according to the store’s press release. Davis Squared also goes by “d2.”
Davis Squared, which opened five years ago at 409 Highland Ave. in Somerville, is known for its industrial floor, gothic welded steel display casings and chalkboard-paint wall, according to the release. The Arlington location, which is currently undergoing renovations, will have the same look, but the boutique’s owners, husband-and-wife Paul and Melisa Christie, and manager, Christopher Derosier, hope that it will develop its own identity.
“We want to bring the funky, urban, vibe with us to Arlington, but we also want Arlington Centered to stand on its own,” said Derosier, who will manage both sites. “We won’t have a kids’ section in Arlington, so we’ll be focusing on new men’s gifts, wallets and barware, and we’ll have plenty of great women’s stuff, too.”
Main Event Tuxedo had been open for more than 15 years.
