Construction Company Picked for Thompson Rebuild

The project is expected to break ground later this month.

District administrators have selected G&R Construction to rebuild the Thompson School, according to the district’s chief financial officer, Diane Johnson.

The Quincy-based company responded to the district with the lowest bid and came highly recommended, she told the School Committee Thursday. The bid actually came in under budget, so the district is starting construction with a small reserve, she said.

The project is expected to break ground later this month, and the new school should be ready for students in September of 2013.

G&R Construction has worked on a number of area projects, including Groton Dunstable Middle School, the Needham Public Library and Stoneham Bank Headquarters in nearby Stoneham, according to its website.
