Christmas Charity Concert Saturday

Today is Friday, Dec. 14. Here are five things you need to know:
1.) There is a Christmas Charity Concert at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington. Proceeds from the show will benefit TEWASSA, a volunteer group devoted to Japan earthquake and tsunami relief. Tickets are $12 with one raffle ticket included or $20 with six raffle tickets included, children under 12 are free. The program includes selections from the Nutcracker Suite, a Christmas song medley and Christmas song sing-a-long.
2.) Political humorist Jimmy Tingle will be at the Regent Theatre tonight for “Jimmy Tingle’s American Dream – Live on Stage & Screen,” which will benefit American Red Cross disaster relief. Tingle’s documentary, “Jimmy Tingle’s American Dream,” will run and then Tingle will do a Q&A and live performance. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. tonight. Tickets are $25, or $50 for VIP seats, which include tickets to an after party with Tingle at Not Your Average Joe’s. Read more.

From the town: Arlington Community Ed Winter Term Registration Now Open: Registration is underway for Arlington Community Education’s winter term, which begins the week of Jan. 6 and which, this year, features an expanded selection of courses. In addition to dance and exercise classes like tai chi, yoga, swing dance, and Pilates, the course offerings now include a dozen popular classes from previous terms, like Glee for Grown-ups, Beginning Drawing & Painting, and Introduction to Excel.
