Arlington Woman's Baby First Born at Winchester Hospital in 2013

An Arlington woman's New Year's baby was the first baby born at Winchester Hospital in 2013, according to a hospital press statement.
Hunter Joseph was born to Melissa Parziale of Arlington and Michael Sampson of Stoneham at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, according to the statement. Hunter weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces and was 21 ½ inches long.
Parziale was at Winchester Hospital since Monday when her water broke 10 minutes before the New Year’s Eve ball dropped. She quickly went into labor and Hunter was born a few hours later, according to the statement.
“The original due date was today, so I thought there was a chance the baby would be coming on New Year’s,” Parziale said through the hospital.
Both Parziale and Sampson praised the Winchester Hospital Labor & Delivery department and the Mother Baby Unit, along with obstetrician, Franklin Waddell, MD. She also appreciated the basket of goodies hospital staff gave to her for her newborn, according to the statement.
Every year, the hospital staff looks forward to the tradition of presenting the basket of baby care items to the family of the first baby in the New Year, reads the statement.
“We loved the maternity ward and everyone has been very nice, I couldn’t be happier,” Parziale said.
