Arlington’s own Pat Connaughton and his Notre Dame Fighting Irish will take on Iowa State at 9:45 p.m. tonight in the March Madness tournament.
The game, which is being played in Dayton, Ohio, will be televised on CBS and shown online at CBSSports.com and NCAA.com.
After a 25-9 regular-season record, Notre Dame earned the No. 7 seed in the West Region. Iowa State, at 22-11, is the No. 10 seed in the region, which includes No. 1 Gonzaga and No. 2 Ohio State.
Connaughton, a sophomore who played his high school ball at St. John’s Prep in Danvers, gets more than 30 minutes per game for the Irish and is the team’s fourth-leading scorer at 9.0 points per game. The 6-foot-5 Connaughton, a good rebounder for his size, is also one of the team’s best three-point shooters.
In the spring, he is a star pitcher on the university’s baseball team.
