Arlington Boys' Tennis Swept By Concord-Carlisle
Arlington is now 3-2, but looking to rally back with busy schedule ahead.
The Arlington High School boys’ tennis team (3-2) was swept in all five games at Concord-Carlisle High School on Tuesday.
“DCL is a pretty tough tennis league,” said AHS Coach Gordon Graham. “I thought in some places we played pretty well. We had a chance to win it in one doubles. We lost of course in a third set tiebreaker by three points, so that match could have gone either way.
“And our two singles, was two points from winning the first set, so that was a really close match as well.”

In doubles, Arlington sophomore Graham Opie and Travis Cuddy lost 6-2, 6-4 to Patriots Matt Japko and Josh Zirkel. And in the final game of the day, Arlington’s Nick Coleman and Trevor Hass were defeated by Tim Kleyn and Adam Shoemaker in a tiebreaker, 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-5).
“I told them they’d been doing some good things to win that second set,” Graham said. “They’d been getting a lot of balls on that second court and they’d been doing a good job of keeping their shots at the feet of the other guys and that was working well. So, they just needed to keep doing that.
“C-C’s a really good team,” Graham continued, “Very talented and experienced. So I was actually happy with the way we did it. In some places, I thought we played really well.”
Next up, Arlington plays Tyngsborough High School on Wednesday at 3:45 p.m.
