A Movie Screening, Educational Rockers and a Kids Art Workshop

Family-oriented events happening in and around Arlington this week.

 

This week there are lots of free family events including: a Pre-School Sing-Along, a screening of the children's classic The Neverending Story, the Alphabet Rockers at the Regent Theatre, a kids art workshop and a historic tour of Arlington.

 FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

Where/When: Cary Memorial Library, 1874 Massachusetts Ave, Lexington,Thursday, March 31 from 10:30- 11:30 a.m.

Why Go: Just down the Mass. Ave. into Lexington, this low-key program is good for parents wanting to spend the morning with the little ones, or for caretakers to plan an event to get out of the house in the mid-morning. Relaxed atmosphere, songs and fun!

Price: Free!

Where/When: Parish of the Epiphany, 70 Church St, Winchester, Friday, April 1at 7 p.m.

Why Go: Pop over the boarder into Winchester for this free showing of the classic 80's children's epic, The Neverending Story. A good treat for the kids on a Friday night. The program is followed by a discussion concerning the moral dilemmas faced in the film.

Price: Free!

Where/When: Regent Theatre, 7 Medford Street, Arlington, Saturday, April 2 at 10:30 a.m.

Why Go: A Parent's Choice Awards and Boston Globe's Best Bets, the Alphabet Rockers are a fresh take on learning your ABC's. Combining rock, hip-hop and other popular music genres, the Alphabet Rockers combine education songs and mainstream entertainment for the whole family.

Price: $10/adult $8/children

Where/When: Cary Memorial Library, 1874 Massachusetts Ave, Lexington, Saturday, April 2nd from 3- 4:30 p.m.

Why Go: Back down Mass Ave., this event is a kids workshop series with a focus on art. Explore the a world of creativity and multiculturalism. Interested parents may contact sarahliu08@gmail.com for information regarding the event or sponsorship. Pre-registration is encouraged due to a space limit.

Price: Free!

Where/When: Massachusetts Ave & Jason St, Arlington, Sunday, April 3 from 1- 4 p.m.

Why Go: Learn a little bit of Arlington's history and get some exercise and outdoor time with the Jason Russell House and Smith Museum tours, a cheap, educational way to spend your Sunday afternoon with the family.
