6 Percent of Arlington Residents Still Without Power
Here is the latest on Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath for Arlington residents.
At noon Tuesday, about 6 percent – or 1,253 of 21,131 – of NSTAR customers in Arlington were without power, according to NSTAR’s outage map.
Roughly twice that number were without power at 11 p.m. Monday. Arlington peaked at about 15 percent of residents without power Monday evening, which was typical of Boston’s inner suburbs.
For downed electrical wires, call 911 and NSTAR at 1-800-592-2000. Report outages directly to NSTAR at this same number.

Town-wide Parking Ban
The town-wide parking ban is now over.
From the town: If you have not done so already, please contact Public Works dispatch to report a downed street tree or large limb at 781-316-3301.
Beginning Monday, Nov. 5, Public Works will be systematically collecting downed limbs from town trees. Any debris that fell along streets and sidewalks will be picked up. All Streets will be visited. To assist in this cleanup, Public Works is asking residents, if they are able, to stack town tree branches along the sidewalk in a way that allows access to sidewalks and roadways.
For tree or large limb removal from private property, contact a professional tree service. Residents who need to dispose of smaller branches are reminded to take advantage of the town’s weekly curbside yard waste collection. Barrels can be used for yard waste disposal if labeled “yard waste.” Free yard waste stickers are available at the DPW Offices at 51 Grove St.

From the town: With the amount of leaves in the road, public safety officials are asking residents to clear catch basins and bag the leaves as yard waste. This will greatly help with clean-up efforts.
