10 Things to Do with Kids Over Winter Break

Whether you're staying in town or ready for a day trip, Patch has got you covered for activities for kids and families.

 

Looking for something to do this week? Here are some ideas to help the keep the kids entertained during their holiday break.

1. Catch a movie

Every Monday afternoon at 1:30, Arlington's Capitol Theatre plays the Baby-Friendly Matinee, movies appropriate for any age.

2. Go Sledding.

 Got snow? Check out some of the great hills in this town, like Spy Pond Field,  Menotomy Rocks Park or Robbins Farm. Be careful and stay warm!

3. Go to a Museum

The Concord Museum is showing an exhibit called Family Trees: A Celebration of Children's Literature. The exhibit combines kids books with the sights and sounds of the holidays 

4. Go to the Zoo

Even though it is winter zoo's are still open. The Stone Zoo, is showing Zoo Lights, a chance to stroll through the zoo at night and check out some sparkling colors.

5. Learn Some History

Inspire the kids to keep learning even though it's vacation. Visit the Orchard House in Concord and see how the holidays were celebrated years ago.

6. Make Arts and Crafts

Get creative and provide the family with long lasting memento at Clay Dreams Choose from an array of mugs, plates and decorative statuettes, choose the colors and paint away.

7. Sip Some Cocoa

Stay warm and cozy and support local business. Buy some Best Friends Cocoa at retail locations like Porch,nd see what great comfort tastes like.

8. Eat Cookies

Make your own or try some of the local faire. Arlington is home to many fine bakeries all over town.

9. Go Ice Skating

It's not officially winter until the skates are on! If the ice is ready walk onto Spy Pond or check out the indoor action at Veteran's Memorial Skating Rink

10. Read a Book

Toss another log on the fire, sit back and try to relax. Get the kids a book at the Book Rack and let them entertain themselves a moment.
